I just have to share the sweetest summer Chateau Lill wedding reception I had the chance to capture! It was so fitting that this was the first hot day of the wedding season in June, and the air was filled with that delicious summer vibe.

The couple, Carey and Tracy, are so in love and connected later in life. They had recently eloped in Hawaii and decided to celebrate with their families here for a reception where many were meeting for the first time. You can only imagine the beautiful mix of emotions floating around this day!

Getting Ready in The Tower Suite

Carey and Tracy got ready together in the Tower Suite, which is the getting ready space at Chateau Lill. It had such beautiful natural light with tons of room to move around and get ready. It also gave the prettiest views of the Chateau Lill grounds, with the trees and the vineyard setting.

Truly, it was such a perfect spot for them to get ready together. Once they were ready, they headed downstairs to greet a few guests before portraits.

Chatteu Lill Wedding Photos On The Grounds

After getting ready and greeting guests, we headed outside for portraits around the Chateau Lill property grounds. This is where the venue really starts to show off! It has beautiful French chateau-inspired architecture, a tree-lined drive, the vineyard greenery, and that sweet white barn tucked into the property, there were so many pretty backdrops without needing to go far.

They also gathered everyone for one big group photo in front of the white barn before the reception. It was such a fun way to capture the people who made the day feel so full. Chateau Lill has this relaxed Woodinville winery feel while still feeling elegant and tucked away. It has so many spaces that are perfect for portraits that beautiful and full of sunshine.

A Chateau Lill Wedding Reception on The Terrace Patio

Their reception took place on The Terrace Patio, which was such the perfect summer setting for this Chateau Lill wedding. The space was open with round tables tucked under the tent and colorful florals by Lilly and the Bee adding colorful little bursts of yellow, blue, pink, and orange.

Will Friend kept the music going while guests mingled and settled in. They also had everyone play a round of trivia, which was such a thoughtful way to help family and friends get to know each other. It made the whole reception feel genuine, personal, and full of those candid little moments that tell the best story.

Partway through the reception, the bride changed into a short white dress, which was perfect for the rest of the evening. One of the sweetest parts of the day was their creative take on a guest book. Instead of signing a traditional book, guests wrote their well wishes on paper, folded them into paper airplanes, and sent them flying!

It was playful and so them. After the paper airplanes took off, we snuck away for a few more golden hour portraits around the property in her shorter dress, soaking up that warm summer light around the chateau before the evening kept going.

I was the yearbook kid. The one who always had a camera, always wanted to document the people around me. When my friends couldn't afford senior photos, I picked up a camera and decided that if nobody else was going to make sure they had beautiful photographs of themselves, I would.

That was the beginning, and I've never really stopped from there.

In 2018 I shot my first wedding and completely fell in love with the industry. All these years later, I'm still here -- still loving it, still showing up with fresh eyes.
xNow I have my own studio inside the historic Tacoma City Hall building, a toddler who keeps me honest, and a deep appreciation for the fact that nothing stays the same for long. All of these things shape the way I take photographs.
