This Foxglove Lodge Vashon Island wedding shoot was truly such a labor of love for me! After months of dreaming, planning, designing, late nights, and a whole lot of heart, this colorful styled shoot finally came to life on Vashon Island. It means the world to me that 11 photographers believed in me to create and execute this vision. I’m so grateful for every single person who showed up, trusted me, and helped bring this day to life. All I wanted was the whimsy, and we got the whimsy!
Of course, in true Washington fashion, our summer content day started with rain pouring down all morning. But somehow, the weather showed up for us, and the whole day turned into the dreamiest mix of whimsy, color, and romance! As a Vashon Island wedding photographer, I wanted this shoot to show just how magical Foxglove Lodge can be for couples who want a wedding day that feels colorful, relaxed, and completely their own. I couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out!
A Few Whimsical Wedding Details
The whimsical styled details were some of my favorite pieces from this Foxglove Lodge Vashon Island wedding styled shoot. Before we moved into the larger ceremony and reception setups, I wanted the smaller details to tell the story too.
Papier and Design created the sweetest hand-lettered stationery. It went so well with the whimsy vibe we had going on and paired so beautifully with the vintage scissors, ring boxes, soft linens, and little horse-inspired touches throughout the flat lays!
Champagne, Horses, & Cake on the Foxglove Lodge Vashon Island Celebration Lawn
The Central Celebration Lawn at Foxglove Lodge Vashon Island was such a perfect spot for a champagne tower and cake cutting. We set up a champagne tower and cake cutting right outside the lodge. It was surrounded by the prettiest colorful florals by By The Wild Floral. I loved the mix of peach, pink, yellow, lavender, and orange blooms with the fruit details tucked in. It made the whole setup feel so garden-inspired and whimsical!
The three-tiered cake by Puffy Clouds Pastry was such a sweet part of the design too, with intricate piping, floral details, and a vintage feel that paired so beautifully with the table linens and flowers. I loved how open and flexible this space felt, while still being close to the lodge and patio.
Foxglove Lodge can fit so many different wedding styles, but it pairs so perfectly with a whimsical design. And yes, you can even include the horses in your wedding portraits, which made this whole day feel even more magical!
A Whimsical Ceremony on the Foxglove Lodge Vashon Island Amphitheater Lawn
The Amphitheater Lawn at Foxglove Lodge felt like the dreamiest little forest ceremony space tucked right along the edge of the trees. It has a natural slope that makes the ceremony feel intimate while still giving guests a clear view.
For this setup, By The Wild Floral created the most whimsical floral aisle with colorful blooms and two floral arches that felt like they were growing right out of the ground. It was romantic and such a perfect example of how magical this space can feel for a Vashon Island wedding!
Outdoor Golden Hour Portraits
After the ceremony setup, we wandered around the property for golden hour portraits with Carin and Luke. Carin wore the prettiest gown from Faye Gown Rentals with soft ruffle details that moved so beautifully in the light. Her hair by Junebelle Beauty and Hillary and makeup by Rikki Wood Makeup was romantic and perfect for the whimsical feel of the shoot.
As a Vashon Island wedding photographer, I love when a venue gives couples space to slow down and explore. You spend so much time picking the perfect venue, and should have the time and space to take it all in! With the open lawn, forested paths, glowing light, and peaceful corners around Foxglove Lodge, there were so many sweet places for portraits.
Whimsical Foxglove Vashon Island Wedding Reception Details on the Arboretum Lawn
The reception setup on the Arboretum Lawn was such a beautiful way to show off the softer, garden-inspired side of Foxglove Lodge. It’s surrounded by old-growth cedars, Japanese maples, huckleberry, and so much greenery. This space already feels lush and enchanting before you add a single detail.
By The Wild Floral brought in colorful, whimsical blooms, while Timeless Event Rentals, BBJ La Tavola, and Superior Event Rental helped create the sweetest tablescape with patterned linens, warm wood chairs, layered place settings, and candles. Adore Boards Charcuterie also created the dreamiest grazing table, which felt so perfect for a relaxed wedding on Vashon Island.
