A Froggsong Gardens wedding feels especially meaningful when you think about how much a garden and a marriage have in common. Both ask you to keep showing up, even when nothing is blooming. Both reward patience over perfection and can become something extraordinary when they’re cared for with consistent love.

Alex and Cole chose Froggsong, one of my favorite garden wedding venues in Washington State, as the place to begin their marriage. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping, and their Vashon Island wedding felt dreamy and full of love!

Photographing this day also felt incredibly full circle for me. Froggsong was one of the first venues I ever second shot at back in 2018, when I was still finding my footing as a wedding photographer. Returning almost eight years later to document Alex and Cole’s day felt so special. A lot has grown since then, both in these gardens and in my own life and career.

The Details & Getting Ready

Alex and Cole started their Froggsong Gardens wedding with two of their favorite people by each of their sides. It made the morning feel so intimate and perfect for a garden wedding. Alex wore a strapless gown with the sweetest bow heels and paired it with a white calla lily and orchid bouquet, while Cole chose a navy suit with a light blue tie.

Their wedding party wore shades of blue and green alongside classic black suits. It all looked so good against the gardens. Alex shared champagne with her bridesmaids, while Cole greeted his groomsmen who arrived in a black Audi wagon before taking photos around the garden. It was such a relaxed start to their Vashon Island wedding!

Alex and Cole shared their first look under one of Froggsong’s leafy garden archways. It truly doesn’t get much more romantic or peaceful than this. Froggsong Gardens is a private 17-acre estate on Vashon Island, so there was no shortage of beautiful places to wander together afterward!

A Dreamy Froggsong Gardens Wedding Ceremony

Alex and Cole kept their ceremony decor simple because, truly, Froggsong’s gardens already bring so much beauty on their own. They had white petals lining the grassy aisle, while the wild greenery and flowers created the dreamiest backdrop.

Even after sharing a first look, Cole couldn’t help but get emotional as Alex walked toward him with her parents. Their Froggsong Gardens wedding ceremony was so beautiful, ending with a kiss and a bubble walk back down the aisle. It was such a sweet moment in their Vashon Island wedding day.

Newlywed Froggsong Gardens Wedding Portraits

Right after the ceremony, we slipped away for a few more portraits around the property. Their just-married excitement was the cutest. From flower-covered archways and tucked-away greenery to open lawns and shaded corners, Froggsong Gardens is full of dreamy backdrops for wedding photos.

Steve, the owner of Froggsong Gardens, has spent more than 50 years tending to this beautiful Vashon Island property. And you can feel it all throughout. They showed off their new rings, wandered hand in hand, and soaked in a little quiet time together before rejoining their guests.

A Froggsong Gardens Wedding Reception Under The Covered Pavilion

Alex and Cole’s reception took place beneath Froggsong’s covered pavilion, which is such a great option when you know PNW weather can have a mind of its own. Thankfully, their Froggsong Gardens wedding had the most beautiful weather.

The tables were decorated with colorful garden florals, soft blue details, and the sweetest little origami crane place cards. After heartfelt speeches and cake cutting, we slipped away for golden hour portraits along with their wedding party. The way the light filters through the gardens is unreal at golden hour!

We came back for first dances beneath the twinkle lights, and from there, the party completely took off. Everyone stayed on the dance floor, and it was truly the perfect ending to their Vashon Island wedding.

Planning a Vashon Island or Froggsong Gardens Wedding?

Froggsong Gardens is such a gorgeous Vashon Island wedding venue for couples who want their day to feel intimate and completely surrounded by nature. With 17 acres of gardens, an outdoor ceremony space, and a covered pavilion for the reception, you can enjoy the beauty of a garden wedding while still having a backup for unpredictable PNW weather. It’s perfect for couples who care more about being present with their favorite people than filling the day with over-the-top details.

I was the yearbook kid. The one who always had a camera, always wanted to document the people around me. When my friends couldn't afford senior photos, I picked up a camera and decided that if nobody else was going to make sure they had beautiful photographs of themselves, I would.

That was the beginning, and I've never really stopped from there.

In 2018 I shot my first wedding and completely fell in love with the industry. All these years later, I'm still here -- still loving it, still showing up with fresh eyes.
xNow I have my own studio inside the historic Tacoma City Hall building, a toddler who keeps me honest, and a deep appreciation for the fact that nothing stays the same for long. All of these things shape the way I take photographs.

Photography that starts with people.
