Guideline to choosing a spot to elope in the PNW.

It’s no secret that the PNW is a photographer’s playground, boasting breathtaking scenery that provides an idyllic backdrop for intimate weddings and elopements. From beaches to mountains, forests to dunes; the PNW offers a stunning range of choices. Eloping is an ideal choice for couples seeking a day dedicated solely to themselves and their love, providing a safe and authentic space to be fully in each other's company. Say goodbye to the stress of managing intricate logistics that often accompany larger weddings. Embrace the simplicity and intimacy of elopement, allowing you to focus on what truly matters – your connection and the start of a beautiful journey together.

It’s hard not to fall in love with the Pacific Northwest in any season.

Because there are so many beautiful spots in the PNW, starting with Washington I want to list some of my favorite places to recommend for elopements and sessions. Please do remember that shooting in these locations may require a permit, and that is a super important thing to obtain!

Another super important thing to add is how important leaving no trace is when you come to these beautiful locations. A super great read on the concept can be found here! It’s important that we respect nature and enjoy these spots responsibly.

  1. Mt. Rainier

First and foremost, let's talk about Mt. Rainier National Park, or as the locals call it, Mt. Tahoma, holding deep cultural significance. This majestic mountain offers an array of stunning elopement spots, such as Paradise and Sunrise.

It's crucial to do your research because obtaining a permit is a must for any national park wedding photography. Skipping this step could lead to fines, and it's also essential to support our National Parks.

You'll find an abundance of incredible spots to choose from, including Tipsoo Lake, Reflection Lake, Fremont Lookout, Skyline Loop Trail, Paradise Visitor Center, Sunrise Visitor Center, Grove of the Patriarchs, and many more. Whether you desire snow-capped peaks, blooming wildflowers, or picturesque waterfalls, Mt. Rainier has it all for an unforgettable elopement experience.

2. Eastern Washington/ Vantage area

It's easy to overlook the abundant beauty of Eastern Washington when considering elopement locations. From the end of the pass to the rolling hills leading to Idaho, there are plenty of picturesque spots, each offering a unique vibe for your special day.

Some of my personal favorites include Frenchman's Coulee, Twin Sisters, the sand dunes near the white bluffs, the stunning Palouse Falls, and the serene Blue Mountains area. Eastern Washington presents a sandy desert atmosphere, making it an excellent alternative when you can't easily visit places like Joshua Tree or Sand Dunes National Park.

3. Olympic Peninsula / Washington Coast

The Washington Coast is another beloved destination of mine. While it may not offer the typical warm and sunny beaches like California, its breathtaking views provide an authentic PNW beach experience that's truly special. Good times are guaranteed along the coast, and you might even encounter a vampire in Forks if you're lucky!

Among the recommended locations, Rialto and Ruby Beach stand out as popular yet stunning spots. The nearby Hoh Rainforest adds to the beauty (remember to check for permit information through Olympic NP). The Kalaloch Tree of Life holds a profound meaning, symbolizing the interconnectedness of all things in the universe, making it a perfect representation for the union of love during your elopement day.

While exploring, don't miss the joy of visiting Sequim, where the scent of lavender fills the air, or check out the charm of Port Angeles. While on the peninsula, consider taking the ferry to Victoria, BC, for an added adventure on your special day!

Choosing the perfect location for your elopement is crucial. Make sure it feels natural and reflects your love and passions. If sandy beaches aren't your thing, consider a stunning mountain elopement. I'd be honored to capture your special day, especially if it's in my home state. Let's create beautiful memories together!
